Understanding Setpoint Adjust Limits and How To Change Them

Building Limit settings

You start with setting the limits, dead band and setbacks in the CCU under the Settings/ Installer Operations section, below is what needs to be set and how the settings interact with each other. All zone and named schedules must fall within these settings and limits.

Building Limit Min and Building Limit Max temps are set first, all other temps must fall within those limits.

Heating User Limit Min must be => building low limit + building to zone diff + zone setback

Cooling User Limit Max must be =< building high limit – building to zone diff – zone setback

Heating User Limit Max must be =< cool limit max – Heating Deadband – Cooling Deadband

Cooling User Limit Min must be =>heat limit min + Heating Deadband + Cooling Deadband

Accessing a Schedule

Accessing a Zone Schedule is different from how to access Named Schedule, accessing a zone Schedule is done directly from the zone device by selecting Edit Schedule (1)

To access a Named Schedule simply click the Scheduling icon from the left-hand column and use the expand arrow on the schedule you wish to edit and from there the process is the same as a Zone Schedule with the exception that you will not have the slider to “Follow Building User Limits, Deadband and Setback. Select “Save Schedule when complete.

Setting Zone (local) Scheduling

In the individual devices select the Zone schedule (1). This will allow individual zone time and temperature schedules. When setpoint changes are made from the thermostat using a Zone schedule they are true changes not temporary overrides as when using a Named schedule. To modify schedule select Edit Schedule (2)

Next you select the type of schedule you wish to use (3) then click on the orange section of the schedule bar (4) which will open the schedule. You can ctrl + click to select multiple days

Once the schedule is open you can adjust the times by clicking on the time slider and sliding to the required time (5). The temperatures are adjusted by using the temperature slides (6). To follow the CCU configured Building User Limits, dead band and setback enable this option as shown, if this is not selected you will need to set the limits and dead bands in each controller individually. The limits and dead bands can be the same as the CCU but cannot fall outside of them. 

Setting Named (multiple device) Schedule

If you wish more than one zone to use the same schedule you will need to select a named schedule. This is done by selecting Named and from the drop down selecting the schedule you wish to use.

Named schedules are created and configured in the Web UI. In the upper right corner select the “waffle” and under that select NAMED SCHEDULE

Enter your Organization name and there will be a default schedule with your site name, if you have multiple sites under the same organization you will see all of the sites schedules.

From this page click on the arrow (1) to open the schedule. To modify the schedule click on edit schedule (2) and to create a new schedule click on add schedule (3). Schedule setup will be the same as setting up a zone schedule with the exception that you do not have the option of following the building user limits, deadband. The schedule will always use the setback configured in the CCU.

The last figure is a blank limits page that you can use as an aid in setting the variables.
