| Overview

The Carrier BMS supports a portfolio of products that are used to provide Intelligent building automation in the HVAC space. This portfolio of products also comprises a set of sensors. These sensors sense various parameters in the rooms and supplies to the room controllers (Nodes & Stats).

The Carrier in its vision towards energy savings and Occupant comfort stands out in its capability of micro zoning and room level controls. That being said Carrier added several sensors to the portfolio, that would help meet the demands of the vision, to provide excellent room-level control and comfort.

Below is the list of sensors of Carrier.

  • HyperSense
  • Wall Sensor
  • Ceiling Sensor
  • Flush Mount Sensor
  • Differential Pressure Sensor
  • Duct Sensor V2.0
  • Wired Multi-Sensor

| HyperSense

The HyperSense caters to use cases where a highly capable remote interface is desired for SmartNodes operating in the plenum. HyperSense is part of Carrier ClimaVision's vertically integrated suite of intelligent building solutions delivering multi-mode sensing, remote monitoring, and individual zone control for the comfort and productivity of building occupants. The HyperSense is a wall mount product, and the design is done thoughtfully to make sure that the product blends into most of the commercial spaces while still giving a fresh and contemporary feel compared to dated Building control interfaces.

| Wall Sensor

Wall Sensor.PNG

The Wall Sensor is an Intelligent-Remote Temperature and Humidity Sensor (RTH). It adds a high-precision temperature and humidity sensor that is pre-calibrated from the factory. it is easily mounted on a wall by a single toggle bolt. For more information refer to Wall Sensor Overview & Installation

| Ceiling Sensor V2.0

The Ceiling Sensor V2.0 is an Intelligent-Ceiling Temperature and Humidity Sensor (CTH). It adds a high-precision temperature and humidity sensor that is pre-calibrated from the factory. It is easily mounted on a ceiling by a threaded bush. The module drop from the ceiling can be adjusted via a set screw. For more information refer to Ceiling Sensor V2.0 Overview and Installation.

| Flush Mount Sensor

The Flush Mount Sensor is an Intelligent-Flush mount temperature and humidity Sensor (FTH). It adds a high-precision temperature and humidity sensor that is pre-calibrated from the factory. It is easily mounted on a wall or metal beam duct by self-drilling screws. Unlike an RTH it does not involve drilling a hole for the mounting or running the wiring behind the surface. For more information refer to Ceiling/Flush Mount/Duct Sensors.

| Differential Pressure Sensor

The Differential Pressure sensor extends the sensor capabilities of Carrier's controllers. Its use opens up an array of additional applications from flow sensing in VAV boxes to monitoring filter performance in AHUs.

The DPS's compact profile and rugged construction allow it to be mounted on the sides of VAV boxes, hard supports, or rafters. For more information refer to Differential Pressure Sensor (DPS) Overview and Installation

| Duct Sensor V2.0

Duct Sensor V2.PNG

The Duct Sensor V2.0 is an Intelligent-Duct temperature and humidity Sensor (DTH). It adds a high-precision temperature and humidity sensor that is pre-calibrated from the factory. It is easily mounted on a duct or VAV box by self-drilling screws. For more information refer to Duct Sensor V2.0 Overview.

| Wired Multi-Sensor

The Wired Multi-Sensor is a sensor that brings in additional parameter sensing. Unlike other Carrier sensors that detect just temperature and humidity, the wired multi-sensor also detects CO2 and Occupancy. This sensor lies between the HyperSense, which adds local interface control, and the wall sensor, which does not have CO2 and Occupancy detection.  For more information refer to Wired Multi Sensor Overview and Installation.

| Need for Different Sensor

All rooms experience different parameters (Temperature, Humidity, Light Intensity, CO2, and Occupancy), and Carrier realized that to monitor these specific parameters we would need multiple types of sensors. These sensors can be installed in particular places within a room to help attain better values and control the space more efficiently.

| Need for Advanced Sensor with Similar Capabilities

Carrier's older sensors that were a part of the original Carrier suite of building automation solved just one or two particular use cases within a room, allowing there to be some missed-out use cases. To help solve those missed-out use cases, Carrier introduced new features in the advanced versions of our sensors.
